Attention All St. Tammany Federation Members:
As you probably know, we have been working hard on financial negotiations with the St. Tammany Parish School System for the past few months, and we are happy to announce that we expect the process to arrive at a tentative agreement tomorrow (4/29/22). Superintendent Jabbia would like to hold a special school board meeting on Tuesday (5/3/22) to present the final package to the Board for a vote. Our local union president, Brant Osborn, wants to allow our members to have a voice before the deal is presented at the special school board meeting. Therefore, we will have our membership meeting on Monday (5/2/22) in order to hear what our members think about the deal and conduct a vote.
Our meeting is scheduled on Monday 5/2/22 for 6 PM at the Fontainebleau High School Auditorium.
Members may start arriving at Fontainebleau High for 5:45 PM to start the check-in process. You will have to be a member in order to voice your opinion on the tentative agreement. There will be a presentation of the deal, a Q&A, a chance for members to speak, and then a live vote. (We are unsure of how long this will take, but we must be out of the building by 8 PM). Although we do apologize for the short notice, please know that due to how fluid this process is, we are releasing this notification at the earliest moment possible.
*Please note that according to St. Tammany Federation policy, “…members must be in good standing (dues paid) for a period of (ninety) 90 days prior to being eligible to vote in any St. Tammany Federation election or at any St. Tammany Federation meeting.” If you are uncertain about your eligibility to vote, please contact the office at 985-888-1750.
