Earlier this month we finished negotiations with the administration on the most recent update to our Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA). We had expected that the School Board would vote to approve the agreement at their regularly scheduled school board meeting yesterday (Thursday 12/10). That would have given us the opportunity to meet tonight to work through our ratification process. However, in order to ensure compliance with Louisiana's Open Meetings Laws, the School Board decided to postpone consideration of the agreement to allow more time for public review. If you haven't already seen it, you can review the updated agreement here.
Now, the school board is expected to review the CBA at a Special School Board Meeting on Monday, December 14th at 6 P.M. If the School Board votes 'yes' to approve the changes in our CBA, then Federation membership will have the chance to vote 'yes' to approve the changes as well. If either group votes no, the proposed changes and financial package will not go into effect.
For that reason, we have rescheduled our ratification meeting until Tuesday, December 15th at 5:30 P.M. (originally scheduled for Friday evening). During this virtual meeting, STFTSE Members will go over the proposed changes in detail and for vote whether or not to approve the updated CBA.
We have also extended the deadline to register until Sunday evening at 5 P.M. If you have already registered, then you do not need to re-register. If you have not registered, you can sign up to be a part of the ratification process here.
Please note, the STFTSE Ratification Meeting is only open to members of the Federation.
