Substitute Recruitment Incentive Program

Members Only Sub Incentive Plan

The St. Tammany Parish School System has been discussing the shortage of substitutes in the system.  As a result, our council decided to look at our finances to see what we could do to help incentivize current members to help find employees to add to the substitute pool.

Some key facts of our plan are as follows:

  1. Our funds are composed of membership dues money, so anything we decide to do with the money shall be for members only.  So, this plan will only be able to reward members.
  2. At this time, our council has approved $5,000 for this plan with the ability to go back to the table to discuss extending the fund if the money is depleted.
  3. A member would mail in an application to the union office that contains the name of the person they recruited to sub before that individual started subbing. (No hand deliveries will be accepted. Postmark required.)
  4. If the identified sub or the member fills out the second application to provide details and submits proof that the individual fulfilled 10 sub openings within 45 days of being hired into the system, then the member will receive a check for $100. (While funding lasts.)
  5. There’s no limit to the number of times a person can apply, but the funds will be limited and will be paid out in the order they are received by postmark. Any unfunded applicants will be kept on file in case there is more funding committed to the incentive program within the school year in which the application was received. If funds aren’t replenished during that school year, the benefit is lost.

In conclusion:

  • Submit application 1 to let us know you recruited a sub and they have filled out the application.
  • Submit application 2 when they have completed at least 10 jobs within the first 45 days of being hired. (Include visual evidence from AESOP of the sub’s days they worked and the date of hire.)

Thank you for recruiting substitutes and helping our school system to fill one of the many critical shortage areas.
